What Eddie’s having the most trouble believing is real at the moment is what’s happening right the fuck now. Because right now he’s got Hawkin’s resident Prom King — Steve “The Hair '' Harrington — pretty much mewling like a goddamn kitten underneath him. Eddie’s never considered himself a lucky guy, but it feels like his luck might be changing just a little when Steve grasps him by the collar of his shirt and pulls him in, practically writing "next time" with his tongue right against Eddie’s mouth like a promise.

Of course they can’t do this here, not with the rest of the band watching the way Eddie’s kisses are slowly melting him further into the couch. He can’t let Eddie get him off in front of his friends… Right?

“One down,” he says, mostly to himself. Steve doesn’t say anything.
He’s thinking about girls at their bathroom mirrors and bedroom vanities. Dates or one night stands or whoever else, messing with their hair and poking at their lipstick and making faces. Fixing whatever Steve had made a mess of the night before.
