For the record, Wei Wuxian has always been an idiot when it comes to love. He can’t believe he wouldn’t have realized his feelings towards Lan Wangji until there is a threat that could take the latter away from him: a rival.
“I wish to ask for your nephew’s hand for marriage.”
Wei Wuxian couldn’t help his mouth, smirking, he whispers behind Lan Xichen, “How about it, Zewu-Jun? Is Young Master Gen up to your liking?”
“Lan Wangji, Hanguang-Jun, Second Jade of Lan, I wish to declare my intentions on courting you,” Gen Lei adds, standing up and bowing lowly – tone shaking but sincere, his cheeks and ears flushed.

Summary
Lan Wangji tries to focus on his studies. Wei Ying is teasing him. For once, Lan Wangji looses his calm a bit and well, things turn accidently painful.
This is my first fic for this fandom and I've just fallen deeeep down this rabbit hole like a couple of weeks ago and now I'm trash and can't function. I SHOULD focus on writing on my other WIPS but these boys... I just can't cope. I've just started on the novel as well as the animated series and yeah... I'm a lost case who's very weak for protective Lan Wangji comforting Wei Ying.
Appologies for any language errors when it comes to name spelling and yeah, this is just a self-indulgent mess...

The weeks turns to months, and Wei Ying is still in Gusu.
Wei Ying is still in Gusu, and Lan Wangji finds that every time he opens the Jingshi's doors at the end of the day, he expects Wei Ying to be there smiling at him and it's a terrible, terrible thing because he couldn't, shouldn't get used to it. Because surely, Wei Ying belongs to the freedom of the open road and not in a place with four thousand rules - Even if that place has Lan Wangji in it.
Wei Wuxian learns to settle in the Cloud Recesses, and Lan Wangji learns to settle the worries in his heart.

He turns to Lan Wangji, who sits patiently at the little, wobbly kitchen table like Wei Wuxian asked him to. Wei Wuxian pouts. “Lan Zhan! I can’t believe I messed up our first date this badly!”
Lan Wangji blinks slowly. “This is... a date?”
Wei Wuxian slumps against the countertop, not caring about the spilled chili oil that gets on his cheek. “It was supposed to be.”
"Oh."
