Winter break – slow, ethereal days spent skating on ice, catching snowflakes on tongues, and bundling up by the hearth with a mug of hot chocolate and a good book. Becky could imagine how she would spend each day, down to the type of scarf she would wear and the novels she’d borrow for evenings best burnt out by the living room window, sipping cocoa and watching as sparkling white blanketed the earth.
She hadn’t imagined being asked to go to a citywide winter formal by none other than her most formidable annoyance, Tobey. And she certainly hadn’t imagined enjoying it, either.
