Summary
Shane had come to accept that nothing good lasted forever, it's just how it was for his life. But when a night out celebrating his birthday results in the deaths of the two people he loved most in this world, he's left to pick up the pieces and raise a child on his own. The only person who could possibly understand his situation would be his aunt Marnie, but as time goes on, he feels even she doesn't get it.
Going through the motions and going it alone takes a toll on him, a toll that can only be remedied by finally coming home to Pelican Town after all these years. He swore it would change him for the best, it would make everything better! But Shane would soon learn that beneath every rock bottom was a deeper, rockier bottom, and he can't climb out alone. He'd have to swallow his pride and learn how to move on, but who knows how long it'll take?
