Summary
"The course of true love never did run smooth."

However, Mulder abandons her last minute to chase down a case in New Mexico, leaving her feeling frustrated and stranded. Meanwhile, a newly transferred agent takes notice of Scully's intriguing presence and introduces himself. The two soon find themselves paired up for the duration of the conference.
Scully begins to recall what normalcy feels like—the warmth of a meaningful connection, the comfort of being touched and held, and the freedom of living without the protective walls around her heart. When those walls finally crumble before another man, he opens her up to parts of herself she’d long kept hidden, almost forgotten. In this newfound vulnerability, Scully realizes that her heart has already chosen its path, guiding her to a deeper truth: her love lies somewhere else, in a place that has been quietly waiting for her all along.

Dana Scully plans everything. She’s an FBI agent, a doctor, and a woman who solves problems with logic and facts. But when her doctor warns her time is running out to have a baby, she takes matters into her own hands.
Step 1: Find the perfect sperm donor.
Step 2: Let her sister Missy and best friend Ellen throw an insemination party.
Step 3: Become a mother. Easy, right?Except Fox Mulder shows up.
Her ex-flame turned best friend doesn’t like her donor, Ed Jerse, one bit. Jealous? No, just “protective.” But after a few too many drinks at the insemination party (thanks to Missy), Mulder spirals into a tequila haze and stumbles into the bathroom—where chaos is waiting.
The next morning, Mulder wakes up missing a shoe, hungover, and haunted by the feeling he did something life-altering. He just can’t remember what. But he’s sure of one thing: Scully’s going to kill him for it.

Dana Scully, a young and exceptionally talented trauma physician, recently joins the same hospital. Having graduated at the top of her class and completed a year of practice at Stanford Hospital, she relocates to Washington, D.C., seeking to be closer to her family and for more personal reasons.
