Summary
“You think if you kill him you won’t feel like this,” and it comes out so certain, almost matter-of-fact. Like their positions are reversed: Adachi his senior, giving him experienced advice. “But that’s not how it works. You kill him, all that changes is he’s dead, and you’re the guy that killed somebody. You don’t want to see the other side of that.”

Adachi tries to talk Dojima down from a bad idea on the worst day of his life.

Summary
"Dojima-san," Adachi says, "you want me to start saying what I think, I'm going to get in trouble."
*
Someday he’ll have blood on his hands, and something to hide, and something to prove. But he’s got nothing going on right now. Mostly.
Adachi maxes out his Social Link with Dojima, step by deliberate step, before the real protagonist of the story shows up. The result is a healthy bond between colleagues with no measurable effect on job performance, relationship status, or the fate of the world.

Summary
“I’m fine.” He doesn’t look fine. He looks like he hasn’t slept. He’s got circles under his eyes like the craters of the moon. He’s sweating enough his hair’s clinging to the side of his face more than it usually does. “Unlike some people, all my ribs are where they’re supposed to be.”
“You look like shit.”
“Don’t I always?”
“…You can go home too, you know.”
“Home,” Adachi echoes, an odd note in his voice. “Nah, I’m good here for now.”
*
Not long after rank 7 of Adachi's Social Link. Dojima thinks Adachi's a little more rattled by recent events than he's letting on. Being stuck in the hospital makes him more sentimental than he might otherwise have been.

Summary
“Ah…Caroline was right. It is very sad when you try to be funny, Inmate.”
“C’mon…She’s messing with me,” Ren explains, to a perplexed-looking Akechi. “They do that. You know, my friend here’s got more in common with you than you might think. He actually wants to lock me up, kinda.”
“That isn’t true, Inmate,” says Justine, in her serene, uncanny voice. Is it his imagination, or is it softer than usual? “This man wants to kill you.”
*
Early November. Ren ill-advisedly tries to explain the Velvet Room to Akechi, after Akechi demonstrates an awareness that something's there during a routine trip to Mementos. He shouldn't be telling Akechi anything, but there's no one else he can talk to about this, or talk to like this. They kick rocks down the empty train tracks. Soon it's all going to be over.
