“... I don't know what else I could be, if not a Hunter,” she murmured.
“You don't have to do anything.”
“You're saying you want me to be a jobless leech?”
He chuckled. “I’m saying I’ll support you no matter where your path takes you. Whatever you want to do — or don't want to do — I’ll take care of everything.”
“... You mean that?”
“I mean everything I say to you.”
“... I guess I’ll keep that in mind.”
“That's all I ask.” He framed her face in both hands and leaned to press a soft kiss to her forehead. “I will always take care of what's mine. That's my promise to you.”
After so long spent working to the bone, her exhaustion has caught up to her: she can barely stay awake. The Hunter's Association forces her to take several weeks off to recover, but what is she supposed to do? Her job is everything she has. And even beyond that, it's not like she can take care of herself. Not like this, not when she's too burnt out to function. But... Well, at least she has Sylus. If nothing else, he'll take care of her. Even when she's hardly a ghost of herself.
