Regis watched him with an expression that was almost apologetic. "You can wait for Geralt, if you like."
Eskel wasn't sure where else he could wait. The barn maybe. But he had come this far. He hesitated in the doorway, sweeping his gaze along the interior of the cottage. It was small and open, so he could see every area of the home. Quilts were piled over stuffed chairs. A copper kettle sat on a well-used stove.
Just as his hesitance began to border on rudeness, Eskel noticed something.
Geralt’s boots sat neatly under the bed, next to a pair of slippers.

Someone was here, someone as familiar and warm and welcome as the bath. Behind him, he heard the fiddling of hands, metal against metal, a quiet hum of a slightly off-key tune. He smiled. Finally, they were together again. Geralt turned slightly, but the way he sat in the tub didn’t allow him to see completely. In a fuzzy, unfocused periphery, he saw shoulder-length grey hair, lean muscles. Something smelled like… apples? No. Mandrake. Mandrake with a whiff of strong, heavy alcohol.
Finally, they were together ag–Another smell cut sharply through the apple-like scent of the mandrake. Fire. Burning flesh. Melting stone.
With an instant, bottomless panic, he opened his eyes again, causing a loud splash in the water. Everything looked the same. Another smell. Gooseberry. Lilac. Despite the warm water, he felt a cold shudder along his back.

“Regis,” Geralt says, thunderstruck. He inhales, and it’s as though it’s the first breath in a very long time.

What once was considered a lonely undertaking Geralt is now realising has become something sacred, something dear to his heart. After all, the loneliest paths are best walked not alone – especially when side by side with the one you love.
This work is a direct sequel to Together Or Not At All.

Geralt grapples with the abuse he experienced as a young man. Regis is there to guide him through it.

Or do I take the monster’s side – any side – in the hopes that everything’ll blow over soon enough and get back to normal so I can grab my pay and leave? When’s a witcher not a witcher?”
Syanna’s death and Dettlaff’s disappearance has left Anna Henrietta shaken. Geralt, upon learning that he is no longer welcome in Toussaint, seeks to leave Corvo Bianco behind and once more return to the Path. He would have done so alone too had it not been for a welcome visit from an old friend – and with Regis’ company, the two come to terms with the events of the recent past, and what this holds for their future. And when Regis confides in Geralt something that leaves the witcher momentarily shaken, he tries to understand these feelings that the vampire has left him questioning. He soon realises that perhaps these feelings weren’t as one-sided as he thought.
