“I am helping,” Yelena mumbles around the spoon in her mouth. Bob shoots her a speculative side eye but say nothing.
“Supervision is helping.”
Snorting his disbelief rather than engaging, Bob returns to his work, pretending to studiously ignore the way her pink tongue licked at her cereal spoon, like a kitten desperate for the last remnants of cream.
For all his pretending, the subtle reddening of his cheeks, and the way his tongue peeks out to lick at his lips as if he can taste her, is a dead giveaway that she has his attention.

“Get married to stay?” Bob clarifies.
The cue scratches the table hard enough to rip the felt lining.
With Yelena's visa about to expire and her impending return to Mother Russia approaching, Bob offers her a way to stay with her sister. All she needs to do is marry her best friend for a year. It's a nearly perfect solution once all their friends agree to keep the secret. Now, all they have to do is avoid falling in love with each other.
Or the marriage of convenience between Bob and Yelena that no one asked for!

September 1944. World War 2 will end within the next year. Alas, Bob, on his last evening before deployment, and immigrant Yelena, who always felt like her life was a battlefield, find each other in the dark. Having barely had time for proper introductions, they will have only one night before they are separated, possibly forever. Time is an enemy without mercy... but hopefully without mercy.

Fortunately, Kate does not believe her and is absolutely going to get Yelena to admit that Bob, with his puppy eyes and contagious smile, is more than a friend.
This is just a little fluffy crack between Kate and Yelena because I love their chaotic dynamic in Hawkeye.

Yelena has been a nurse for years, caring for those who can't care for themselves. Until the loss of her sister spun her out into an abyss she can't find her way out of. A stranger with familiar eyes offers her a hand and a ray of hope in her hour of need.

Black and grey, with white pure skin, a ruby of blood blazed at his breast, and eyes that gleamed like living sapphires so vibrant Hob could barely maintain eye contact as he nodded an affirmative.

If pressed, Hob would say he didn’t have a type. Personality and common interest were his turn-ons. But apparently stone faced, emo, fantasy writers, with pouty lips, was what did it for him these days. Dream wore black, like his sister, only he wore it like a second skin, like a cloak of shadows that attracted and repelled simultaneously.
Blue eyes, their color unmistakable in the dim light, watched with no expression, appraising him. It was only when he managed to stumble forward, rattling the table to extend his shaking fingers did those pillow soft lips move, tilting just a smidge in the barest hint of a smile.
