Summary
Six months since Theo was placed with Buck, everyone at the station already acts like Buck and Eddie are married.
Shared calendars. Matching emergency contacts. Family dinners.
Buck laughs it off, until Ravi casually asks:
“So when did you know you were in love with Eddie?”
And Buck doesn’t have an answer.
Because the worst part is he genuinely doesn’t know when it happened. Only that it already has.

Summary
Buck lets the call go to voicemail the first time. Unknown number.
He tells himself it’s probably spam or a wrong number, or something he doesn’t have the energy for after a double shift.
The second time, it comes through while he’s standing in Eddie’s kitchen.
Buck declines the call. Again. Eddie notices, of course he does.
“You gonna get that?”
“Nah” Buck says too quickly, already reaching for the olive oil. “Not important”.
The phone buzzes again. A voicemail now sitting in Buck’s inbox. Buck doesn’t listen to it, why would he? The only people who need him are; Maddie who he spoke to earlier that day or Eddie and he’s with him.
It’s not until later that night, when he’s alone, that Buck checks his voicemail.
“Hi, this is Dierdre from Social Services, I’m calling about….”
OR
Buck has been contacted by Social Services. Buck tries to handle it alone - convinced it’s not his place. But when things escalate and Theo’s future becomes uncertain, Eddie refuses to stay on the sidelines, stepping in with a quiet unwavering certainty that shakes Buck more than the situation itself.

Summary
“So,” Eddie said.
Buck glanced over. “So.”
“Beck asked me out.”
The world narrowed.
Buck’s hand froze on the truck. “What?”
--
Or, Beckett Walsh, a firefighter from the London Fire Brigade, joins the 118 for a three-week exchange program and looks exactly like Buck.
Everyone sees it.
Everyone except Eddie.
So when Beck asks Eddie out, Eddie says yes, hoping one date might help him understand why every relationship before this has felt almost right.
Unfortunately for Buck, “almost right” looks a lot like him.

Summary
"What are you saying, Eddie?" Buck asks again, soft and patient, and it's so unlike him that Eddie melts into his chair.
"Yeah," Eddie chuckles. "What am I saying?"
"Y-you want to try with me? Figuring out…"
"If we could want the same form of physical intimacy from each other," Eddie finishes for him with a nod, a little more confident now.
"H-how?"
"Uh, I don't know yet," Eddie admits. "Slowly, I suppose. I thought we could, you know, come up with a plan together?"
"A plan," Buck echoes, but he doesn't sound weirded out, more like he's already planning to buy a clipboard. "And it wouldn't be strange? I mean, considering— I'm a man, Eddie."
OR After the attack in the hospital, Eddie finds a letter hidden inside a book that Buck gave him, and reading it unravels him irreparably.

Summary
Theo hands Buck three dandelions.
"Oh, thank you Theo. I love them."
Theo shakes his head. "They're not for you. They're for you to give to Eddie." He points at Eddie, standing frozen with two stacks of toilet paper in his arms. "Eddie likes flowers."
"He does?" Buck asks, looking at Eddie curiously.
Eddie looks away, cheeks colouring. The two pendants under his shirt burn against his skin.
Theo nods enthusiastically. "He likes flowers and he likes you, so you should give him flowers Buck."
"Yeah Buck," Chris singsongs. "You should give him ~flowers~."
or
Buck adopts Theo. Eddie's Saint Christopher pendant suddenly has a companion.

Summary
“Chris?” Eddie asks, turning away from the stove only to see Chris wearing his headphones at the kitchen table. “Chris!” he calls out and waits for Chris to free up an ear. “Did you hear me?”
“Something about Buck?” Chris guesses. “What is it now?”
Eddie has no idea where this kid gets his sass from.
“I wanted your opinion,” Eddie responds, pointing his spatula at Chris, “on whether or not you think Buck might have feelings for me? Because I’m trying to decide if I should say something to him or not.”
Chris pulls his headphones off fully, placing them on the table.
“About your big gay crush?” Chris asks, looking for clarification.
Eddie rolls his eyes and nods. “Sure, my ‘big gay crush’.”
“I don’t know why you don’t just show him the tattoo,” Chris replies. “I’m pretty sure he’ll be able to figure it out from there.”

Summary
“I didn’t know you were coming over,” Maddie says, holding back a laugh. “Is everything okay?”
“I thought I was pretty clear.” Buck throws himself down on the couch, hugging a throw pillow against his chest. “Everything is in fact not okay. I’m going insane, Maddie.”
“You said that already,” Maddie says as she joins him on the couch. “Is this about Eddie?”
Buck rolls his eyes. “Who else would it be about?”
“That’s… actually a good point,” Maddie concedes, trying to hide her amusement and failing. “What’s he done now?”
Oh, a fantastic question.
“What hasn’t he done?”
