Ninety-nine years and several hours after Nagi and Shiranui sealed Orochi, Waka wakes up to a ghost in his house and a headache usually reserved for hangovers. He has one year to keep a human stranger to these lands alive, or else the dark forces itching to swarm Ryoshima Coast upon Orochi’s return will arrive ahead of schedule. He supposes this makes about as much sense as anything else that happens in Nippon. It isn’t like he has a Special Investigation Troop to run, mountains of reports to finish for Queen Himiko, and both a priestess and a politician that won’t keep their noses out of his business.
… Hm. Maybe Rao and Sugawara could make themselves useful, actually. That would be a first, in all their time working together as the Queen’s Court.
