Summary
Long ago there was a snake that lived in the clouds, that snake was then named Lan Wangji and died protecting the sect leader of what will be the well known GusuLan sect. Every generation there was always someone named Lan Wangji and they all died protecting something, echoing the snake's sacrifice.
Long ago there was a fox that was freed by a rogue cultivator. That fox fell in love with the human and they lived happily until they died in order to free people from a fire.
When the hundredth and thirty-third incarnation of Lan Wangji meets Wei Wuxian, a descendant of the fox spirit, two fates meet and collide in the most unexpected way.
