He was at the end of his rope. It had been a long day. He’d slept in after a long, sleepless night and was late to work. The customers were extra bitchy. He blew a tire and had to replace it, somehow getting grease on his jeans. And now he made the mistake of letting out a mildly wistful sigh as Head Over Heels by Tears for Fears came on the radio as he drove Dustin to hellfire. Now, the kid would not leave him the fuck alone about this bullshit for the millionth time.
“She’s literally the perfect girl for you!”
The tactic he adopted a couple months or so back of truthfully saying that he liked someone else hadn’t worked. And usually, he’d ignore it. Turn up the radio. Dismiss it. Anything. But this time? This time he exploded with “It’s Eddie, okay?”
