Yes, it seemed that the universe was trying to tell him something, something he could not grasp, maybe something he did not want to see. Although, Eddie Diaz was usually not one to believe in such things as « signs from the universe ». He did not believe in « fate », in « fortune » or « misfortune » for that matter. But, as he stood there -senses assaulted by bright lights, strong smells of alcohol and antiseptic, all too clean and smooth surfaces, plastic, ceramic and linoleum, bips and ticks and clatters, hushed and severe voices- as he stood there, his resolve was being challenged.
Maybe there was something that he could call the « universe » that was telling him something at this precise moment.
Then again, maybe it was just his own subconscious finally catching up, finally deciding that it was time for him to face what has been lying under the surface for a few years now.Why him?
