“Shit, shit, shit,” the man next to Charlie chanted. The metal of the cabin creaked ominously. Not a good sign. Charlie was out of comforting words.
He reached out his hand, palm up, in the space between them. An offering if not a reassurance.
Their eyes met – two complete strangers, but somehow no words were needed to communicate. There was an understanding that passed between them.

“Nick,” Charlie spoke firmly, snapping Nick back to attention. His gaze was trained on Nick, a tinge of desperation seeping into his voice. “Do you not know who I am?”
Nick hesitated a moment. He wracked his poor, throbbing brain one last time for some memory of the boy in front of him. He wished so badly that he could tell Charlie something else, anything else, and not cause him more anguish.
“No, I'm so sorry. I don't remember you.” And then, because he couldn't seem to stop his big mouth. “Should I?”

An AU where Nick and Charlie met and get together in uni. Nick has an accident during a rugby game that leaves him with memory issues. Charlie has to help navigate Nick's recovery while dealing with the pain of his boyfriend forgetting him.

Harry clapped his hands on Charlie's shoulders, staring him dead in the eyes. “Yes. And you're doing it too.”
Shit. So was Charlie? “Me?” he spluttered.
“You're on the rugby team, aren't you?” Harry kept walking, and Charlie followed in a daze. “We’re all doing it, so you have to as well or we'll look daft.”
“So you'll do it? You'll do the full girl-drag-costume thing?”
Fuck, fuck, fuck. “Um, yes. Okay. I'll do it.”

Harry Greene is having a costume party and tells Charlie that the rugby team is going in drag. Unfortunately, Charlie doesn't know that it's all a ploy by Harry in order to humiliate Charlie. However, it might backfire on Harry when Nick catches sight of Charlie in a skirt.
