“What the fuck,” Leon snarled, his entire body going rigid in an instant, hands clenching into fists as he swiveled to face you. “When was this?”
Even though his anger wasn’t directed at you, your body still instinctively recoiled from the force of his furious stare. “Uh, around 11 a.m.,” you managed to squeak out, gaze flickering over the tensed muscles of his thighs, arms and chest.
Leon looked ready to go to war. Murderous wrath oozed out of him as he demanded, “Where?”
“A restaurant called All the Cakes,” you began to explain, only to blink when he yanked out a phone and immediately dialed a number.
“Why the fuck weren’t you watching her this morning,” he roared as soon as whoever he’d just called presumably answered. He paused to listen to the explanation, lips tightening in agitation, before he hissed, “I don’t give a damn who she’s with; next time I want you to follow her.”
Your mouth fell open as you listened to him talk. Were you hearing him correctly? He had someone watching you? How long had this been going on?
