    It makes Vil stop stroking his hair, and the lack of complaint confirms his suspicion.

    "Staying up?" Vil furrows a brow, writing down one of his final notes on a particular magical equation. "Whatever for?"

    "Until midnight." Malleus speaks as if this is some kind of knowledge Vil is supposed to have already. "Until my birthday."
