It didn't matter how many times this summer he'd caught the perfect wave, or how many times he'd gone out with Argyle, or gone home with someone else. It was stupid, being stuck on a straight guy.
But that had been Billy's reality ever since he'd seen Harrington's big brown doe eyes blink at him during rush week. He was down bad, following Steve to Theta even though he'd been offered several other fraternities hungry to snag his excellent grades and prestigious scholarship cred.
It all didn't matter when he could barely think about anything else. Did he impress Steve? Probably not. Did he have a chance? Not one in hell.

“WAKE UP, IT’S CHRISTMAS!”
“That it is, Ocean.” Billy’s voice sounds dry and cracked and smells heavily of peppermint. And not like toothpaste.
They don’t have a lot of chance to get out and party now that they’re parents, so they took a few extra sips of peppermint schnapps while setting out Ocean’s Christmas bounty from Santa. Sue them.

“Yes, honey, just for the twenty third,” Shane can practically hear her cringe. Because of course his mom talks a big game about hating Rozanov but she would never let anybody be alone for Christmas. Or December 23.

He hates Derek Hale on principal. Sure, the prince of the school has never actually done anything to Stiles. He mostly seems to stare like he can’t believe Stiles is allowed to exist on the same plane as his unholy perfection, brows furrowed.
He actually loves to stare at Stiles. Just… stare. That shit is unnerving. Makes him feel like he’s being stalked by a wild animal or something.
That’s Stiles’ only solace. That as much as he’s about to hate this tutoring thing, Derek Hale will loathe it even more.

Derek has the most fucking luxurious shower Stiles has ever seen.
Jets and a rain head that came from the ceiling and fancy conditioner and body wash that smells like Derek and makes his heart race. He hasn’t showered in it, of course not. But he’s imagined it many times.
He imagines coming there after a long day and falling under the spray, Derek’s arms lashing around him and the heady Derek scented steam that would fill his lungs.
He imagines it too much.

Tommy messes up and Bambi, starts playing, but Steve can’t wait any longer. The longer he draws this out, the more a crowd will form.
Steve drains his drink and tosses it over his shoulder, throws his leg over Hargrove’s thigh, and starts rolling his hips.
Hargrove looks up at him, way too close, close enough to feel the heat of his skin, to count his eyelashes.
Steve grabs and fists the back of Hargrove’s hair, jerking him back, and the crowd howls approvingly, “how long do I have to dance, asshole?”

For some reason, Derek keeps touching him. And not like throwing against the wall, normal things. Derek was just touching him.
Stiles doesn’t really know what to do about it so he just writes it down on the back of a Taco Bell receipt.
2:28 am 9/9 Deaton’s- Derek nudges me by my waist to move aside
4:51 pm 9/12 After Practice- he picked me and Scott up after school- opened door for me??? Definite upper butt this time.
9:21 pm 9/12- Harpies attacked, he pushed me behind him. After when I checked his arm, he put his hand on my cheek???
He eventually has to move to a second receipt which is when he tapes the first one into the back of a half used composition notebook. When that gets full, he buys a wall calendar and begins to note them down, looking for patterns.
At first, he thinks it’s a power play over Scott, but incidents increase when Scott isn’t there.
He starts testing it, moving closer. Getting nearby to see what Derek will do.

But whatever. It was all ok that Derek didn’t like him.
Because wolf Derek? LOVED Stiles. Could not get enough. Danced around him with tail wagging and brought him gifts (the whole stag had been hard to bring home but he wasn’t complaining), and rolled over for belly rubs.Stiles didn’t always know he had a place in the pack but at least at the full moon he had a job, and keeping the alpha calm and his tail wagging was hardly work at all.
He was the spark, the belly-rubber, the recipient of various play bites and of the most gorgeous sleep he’d ever had on the ground of the preserve, head pillowed on wolf Derek’s side as he drifted off mid-sentence.
