Tivar shot him a look, painfully aware of his heart beating faster in his chest.
Francel cleared his throat. "I believe he means to say, Tivar, do you love Lord Haurchefant?" He smiled at Zain, who gave him two thumbs up.
Tivar's face heated up a bright red. He jumped to his feet, loosening his grip on Haurchefant's hand, prepared to defend himself, only to be met with serious looks from the both of them. Unable to form words, Tivar kept stumbling over a flat denial; he realized, then, that the jig was up.

Summary
It is during their second one in one of IPC’s private lobbies, after the pair is entrusted with a mission designated in Penacony, when a plastered head Dr. Ratio hands him a suggestion. “Since you are very keen on testing your luck, gambler. I’d like to set forth a proposal, a game that we both could participate in.”
Aventurine could not resist an arching brow. “Go on. What is this proposition you have in mind for us?”
“Plain and simple: What I have in mind is…” The bust disappears; taking its place, a smile on the doctor’s very face. “A game of toss. Heads or tails. Call the shots correctly, and you will have the opportunity to cast any question. The opposing side has no choice but to answer with complete honesty.”
Before setting off for their mission in Penacony, a trust building exercise takes place between the doctor and the gambler in a form of coin toss.

Neuvillette winced at the sound of Wriothesley and Sedene’s fierce arguing in the hallway. He loathed the distance he had put between himself and the Duke, but knew it was necessary. His strict instructions to keep Wriothesley out of his office were for the warden’s own good, no matter how much it hurt the Chief Justice to stay away.
“Fine! But I expect an explanation. If I don’t get one, then I’ll just keep coming back!” The Duke’s parting shot seemed to strike the Iudex’s heart.
“Please don’t,” he whispered once the doors of the Palais Mermonia slammed shut.
Please do, his traitorous heart echoed.
Or, Neuvillette saves Wriothesley from the brink of death by claiming him as his mate. Certain that Wriothesley will hate him for it, he seals himself away in the Palais Mermonia and promises to let the Duke live as normal a life as possible without getting in the way of his happiness.

And there's Harry - the Harry that Jean hasn't seen in two months, three weeks, and five days. His hair is a frizzy, unkempt mess, partially obscuring his face. His eyes are glossed over as he blinks slowly at a point just above Jean's shoulder, and his face is flushed and blotchy. He's upright, but swaying slightly. He stinks of booze.
"Vic," he croaks, hitting Jean with a powerful whiff of nicotine, "I fucked up."
