The thick pines open up on a plaza so blindingly white you could mistake it for a skating rink. Wen Yuan opens his mouth in wonder, taking in the Dragon Gym just beyond entirely made of dark woods, delicately carved.
Jingyi interrupts his reverie. “Good luck and stuff, we are gonna go take a look at the Pokémon daycare.”
“You’re not coming with?” Wen Yuan asks, surprised and a little hurt.
“We’ll catch up later,” Jin Ling shrugs, “Otherwise they’ll force me to stay for dinner and we will have to make conversation and stuff.”
Jingyi just mutters something that sounds like “cringe”.
