You…" Jared took a shaky breath. His next words were spoken in whispers, too profound to be said any louder. "You don't deserve to die, Evan."
Evan wants to cry because Jared somehow manages to say just the right thing when he feels this way. He doesn't deserve someone as amazing as the insanely cool Jared Kleinman. Even if he made mistakes sometimes and once made him call him J-dog for an entire week in fifth grade. Jared is so fucking perfect with all his imperfections and Evan is just… not.

Jeremy puts a hand to his face and closes his eyes. Maybe that would stimulate Michael’s presence. He thinks of what it can be and lets his imagination run wild. Sometimes, when Michael thinks Jeremy is asleep, he'll do this and will whisper sweet things to him. Maybe that's what's happening right now. Or Nanay notices Jeremy has a high temperature and thinks he is sick, so she puts the back of her hand to his face to check and asks him how he's feeling. That sounds nice but Jeremy isn't sick and he hates taking advantage of the Mells' kindness. Or maybe it's nighttime and he's laying next to Michael when Ina leans in to kiss him and Michael goodnight. She likes to use her hand to steady them so that could be what the hand on his face is for.

The teacher thankfully understood that panic attacks are fucking terrifying so she let Evan follow him to make sure he was okay. He had put his hand on Jared’s elbow and coached him through his first-ever panic attack. Evan held him until Jared was ready to go back in.
