Im prunkvollen Herzen Kyotos wurde der junge Erbe Tomioka Giyū nach Vollendung seines zwanzigsten Lebensjahrs auf den Sklavenmarkt geführt, um zum ersten Mal einen eigenen Untergebenen auszuwählen. Zwischen den Käfigen voller gebrochener Seelen zogen weißes Haar und auffällige Narben seine Aufmerksamkeit auf sich. Ein Gefangener, voller Stolz und Widerstand. Trotz der Warnungen seines Vaters schien Giyū fasziniert und entschied sich für ihn.

“Oi,” he snapped. “Tomioka.”
The room stilled—not silent, but attentive. Sanemi’s eyes locked on Giyuu’s bandaged arm.
“You gonna tell us why your sleeve’s bled through,” Sanemi growled, “or do you want me to guess?”
Giyuu met his gaze. Calm. Controlled. A few of the other Hashira glanced over, not surprising—Sanemi’s confrontations were rarely quiet.
Giyuu straightened. “I was careless,” he answered simply. Methodically.
Sanemi scoffed. “Careless? You?” He took a step forward, closing the distance between them with that sharp, storm-like presence of his.
“You’re annoyingly precise to a fault. You don’t just get ‘careless.’ So try again.”He reached out—not touching Giyuu, but close enough that the warmth of his hand brushed through the air between them. Too close. Giyuu’s breath caught, his pulse tripping over itself, his skin tightening with a prickling awareness.

Summary
The idea of his baby brother walking away from the Estate with the confidence of a Pillar made his stomach twist into painful knots. A demon slayer was already a prime target for demons - a feast for those around them. But a Hashira was different - they were targets for the Upper Ranks and the most dangerous enemy for someone like Kibutsuji. The most ferocious, determined warriors that were forever labeled the strongest of the Corps.
