Astro was bitten by a Twisted and was infected. Not long after the infection, he killed a toon out of annoyance and discovered he was a half-Twisted like Dandy was, can shift between normal and Twisted form.

Being a half-Twisted drives Astro insane, the overwhelming negative thoughts was too much for him to bare. However, Boxten found the suffering Astro and comforted him, giving him relief.
Since then, Boxten became Astro's method of coping and had a strong desire to stay close to him.

However, as time goes on when he was kept apart from Boxten, his feelings for the music box and his thoughts became twisted.
