Summary
"I like you."
"I did the assignment."
Then Hunter Davenport walked through the door and eight weeks of whatever-they-were-calling-it exploded in thirty seconds.
She'd saved his number as DO NOT CALL. She'd called it anyway. She was on his kitchen counter when she said something true out loud for the first time in years. She was in a hotel room in New York when she understood that she was in trouble. She watched him at Malone's that night and for the first time in eight weeks couldn't read a single thing on his face.
This is the story the show didn't have time to tell. What happened in the weeks before that bar. Everything that had to be survived after.

Summary
"Breathe normally," I murmur, keeping my voice professionally light and gentle around the edges of vocals. "The measurement will be off if you hold your breath."
"Is that possible?" His voice catches slightly. "Breathing normally. With you standing this close?"
I allow myself a small smile, defusing the moment with practiced ease. "Most clients manage. Though I admit some find it more challenging than others."
"Hold still," I murmur, and watch him forget how.
Or: Charles Leclerc is a third-generation master tailor with steady hands and a spotless reputation as Max Verstappen arrives with new money and a Provence vineyard under his name. When Max walks into Maison Leclerc seeking suits for the season, he expects fabric and formality. What he gets instead is a fitting room with three mirrors and a man who measures him like he's memorizing scripture. A touch that lingers far longer than professional necessity allows.

Summary
Charles Leclerc is twenty-four, well-mannered, and sold into marriage like a piece of real estate while Max Verstappen is twenty-seven, a Dutch business heir with more money than mercy. Their union is sealed over champagne flutes and poker chips, polished smiles for Monaco society. Behind closed doors, it’s lace and battles, punishment and rebellion, champagne spilled across bare chests and whispered pleas in the dark.
Charles begins as property, resisting with wit and silk while Max begins as mogul, demanding control. They collide in battles of flesh and will until they both kneel.
Charles in love, Max in devotion.

Summary
"I still turn to tell you something beautiful, and the silence where your voice should be is the loudest sound I've ever heard."
Max has been gone for two years. A rain-slicked road, a car that didn't stop, a telephone call that shattered everything.
Charles knows he's supposed to move on. Pack up the clothes that still smell like sandalwood. Stop seeing Max's face in every crowd. Learn to exist in an apartment that feels more like a mausoleum than a home.
But how do you let go of someone who feels more present in death than most people do in life?
Inspired by Evanescence's "My Immortal" because some wounds don't heal, some pain becomes eternal, and sometimes the hardest part of loving someone is learning to survive without them.

Summary
"Do you have coffee with... extra coffee?" Max asks, and Charles has to bite his lip to keep from laughing.
Charles works at his family's café overlooking Monaco's harbor. Max is a yacht operations manager who discovers the café and becomes utterly obsessed. While this gorgeous, clearly successful businessman has been in the café five times today. Five times. And each visit, his coffee orders become more nonsensical while his ability to form coherent sentences deteriorates.
"We have espresso," Charles says, taking mercy on him.
Charles is starting to suspect Max doesn't actually like coffee that much. But he definitely keeps coming back for something.
Inspired by Sabrina Carpenter's "Espresso" because sometimes you're just that addictive, and sometimes confident people become complete disasters around their crushes, and that's adorable.

The fiancé he abandoned, the heir to Monaco's most powerful hotel empire, and the only person who ever made Charles forget how to breathe properly.
Monaco, 1956. Where reputation is currency and love is the most dangerous gamble of all.
Inspired by Sabrina Carpenter's "Please Please Please" - a story about second chances, the terror of trusting someone who broke you once, and the desperate hope that maybe, just maybe, people can change.

Summary
Charles works at a charming bookshop in Paris's Latin Quarter. Max is gorgeous, keeps coming into the shop, and appears to be an absolute idiot.
"Do you have books here?" Max asks, in a bookshop.
Charles is suffering. Because why would anyone that attractive think books have words in them? Why would someone that beautiful ask if The Stranger is about making friends? And why, why, would Max ask Charles on a date to organize his sock drawer?
The truth? Max is actually a brilliant aerospace engineer. He just becomes catastrophically stupid around people he's attracted to. The more he tries to impress Charles, the worse it gets.
Inspired by Sabrina Carpenter's "Manchild" – because sometimes the heart wants what it wants, even when what it wants can't string sentences together.
