Summary
Lex is actually so pissed off by Superman mainly because he has had a very unhealthy crush on the Man of Steel since his appearance, although simultaneously hating him for what he is. He is obsessed with exterminating Superman, not only to eradicate the threat to humanity, but to rid himself of the temptation he can't reconcile with himself.
When Lex doesn't mind the risk of wiping out millions of lives as collateral damage during a research test, Superman can't help himself and seeks the confrontation with Lex. And then Superman offers Lex a deal he can't refuse. For twenty-four hours, Superman belongs to him alone. And he will do whatever Lex wants.
Who could have guessed that twenty-four hours would be enough to change the world entirely.[This is the English translation of the original German version]

Eigentlich ist Lex ja vor allem deswegen so angepisst von Superman, weil er seit seinem Erscheinen einen sehr ungesunden Crush auf den Mann aus Stahl hat, obwohl er ihn gleichzeitig hasst für das, was er ist. Er ist besessen davon, Superman zu töten, nicht nur um die Gefahr für die Menschheit auszurotten, sondern um sich selbst von der Versuchung zu befreien, die er nicht mit sich selbst in Einklang bringen kann. Doch als Lex bei einem Forschungstest billigend in Kauf nimmt, Millionen Menschenleben als Kollateralschaden auszulöschen, kann Superman kann nicht anders und sucht die Konfrontation mit Lex. Doch dann schlägt Superman Lex einen Deal vor, den er nicht ablehnen kann. Vierundzwanzig Stunden gehört Superman einzig und allein ihm. Und er wird tun, was immer Lex will.
Wer hätte schon ahnen können, dass vierundzwanzig Stunden völlig ausreichen, um die Welt vollkommen auf den Kopf zu stellen. -
