Summary
And there’s a pattern to his exhales that Johnny knows well enough to read as: I don’t deserve you. I don’t deserve to say it too.
But he lets Simon hold him like that, his face pressed against the side of his temple, breathing in the scent of his hair, arms cradling and tightening simultaneously, as if Johnny is both the most precious and most dangerous thing in the living room.Fools in love, family, and finding a way... Summary
He wades in it now, eyes still open, fixed on the speckled ceiling, begging himself not to crave bomb blasts and artillery fire in his childhood bedroom. Although…there might be something beautiful about it all, Johnny supposes, those noises in the thick. The gasps in between discharge that say: I’m here, I’m a part of this song too.

Summary
The sun blazes down on Soap’s upturned face, eyes shut tight against the glare that feels like it could melt its way straight to his brain. He’s perched in the passenger seat of a cherry red convertible, top-down, the wind lashing through his hair and shirt like a hurricane. If he dared crack an eye open, he’d see the desert screaming by- crimson cliffs jagged as broken teeth, cacti dotting the land intermittently, and a sky so blue it looks like God Himself painted it with a steady hand. But Soap keeps his eyes shut tight. Freedom’s a cruel tease out here, a mirage shimmering just beyond the next dune. It’s like a window in a prison cell, showing you the world you’ll never touch again. A pity, really. He’s sure Arizona is beautiful this time of year.
“Took you all this way and you won’t even enjoy it properly,” Ghost grumbles, his voice barely cutting through the roar of the engine and the wind’s howl, but Soap hears the irritation plain as day.

Summary
It probably speaks to the magnitude of the shit wrong with him, but for the first time Soap is genuinely upset that he’s about to die. It would be the best sex of his life, if it wasn’t about to end.
“Damn shame,” Ghost sighs eventually.
“Aye. I never even got to see you naked.”
