But the spark of hope that Rumi ignited in Jinu that there could be something beyond this life of misery and shame isn’t so easily extinguished by threats and pain and to Jinu's horror, Gwi-Ma discovers the traitorous thought. Gone now is the deal for his memories to be erased and instead the fates of the Saja Boys, the closest thing Jinu has to family, are now at stake. Either he follows through with his plan and helps Gwi-Ma capture all the human souls, or the only people he's allowed himself to care about will suffer horror and pain for the rest of the eternity. There's no right answer, there's no escape, and no matter what Jinu chooses people are going to get hurt. The only thing he can even try to control is how much.

Summary
Jinu has been Gwi-Ma's slave for centuries.
A pet, equally tortured and prized. He doubted he'd ever be let out of his cage.
Until the day he finds himself offered up as a gift—tribute, bribe, trap—to the demon lord's heir, a Hunter-raised half-blood demon called Rumi who hates him and what he represents on-sight. He half-expects her to send him back to the Underworld in pieces.
Rumi sees his presence as a death sentence for her. It's becoming hard enough to hide her patterns from Mira and Zoe. How is she supposed to hide a demon-gift sent by the demon lord of the Underworld?
He's clearly a trap, one that leaves her with no good choices. Every subsequent decision seems to magnify her patterns and drag her deeper into her demon heritage.
What to do? Hide him? Kill him? Contain him? Or...help him?
Could a demon with no feelings really deserve her help? Or is there more to it than she's been led to believe? And is trying to find out really worth the risk to Rumi, her friends, and the Honmoon?

Perhaps he had deserved death, he had accepted his fate the moment he stood to face the Trinity guard, the odds were against him and death seemed inevitable, but to have died protecting another- and a small child of that, yes, he would have accepted death in that moment. Yet here he was, riding with a child of the enemy, riding toward the last strong hold of the Fey- toward those who he has wronged most,- perhaps death would greet him soon after all.
