Iron Man isn't the only person pulled from the portal after nuking the Chitauri. An armored man and green infant crash onto the tower's balcony. They don't look remotely out out of place in their group of mutants, wizards and superheroes. Despite fitting in, It's clear they want to return to their galaxy far, far away, a galaxy that Stark has vast quantities of intel on.
