Summary
After they defeat that creature and get the news that Will has been found and is in the hospital, they just fucking…collapse.
Right there, on Jonathan Byers’ bed.
Jonathan is exhausted after trying to find Will.
Nancy is exhausted after trying to find Barb.
And Steve is just tired.
There are matching scars on Jonathan and Nancy’s palms. Steve’s nose is busted up by the very boy who just grabbed him and saved him from a monster- after which, Steve saved him in return. Nancy's bat is loosely dangling from Steve's fingers.
And the three of them collapse, falling into each other, curling around each others’ aching bodies in Jonathan Byers’ cramped bed in the house with the peeling wallpaper and the burn scars on the carpet and the frantic alphabet scrawled on the wall in an attempt to communicate with a boy who couldn’t become a ghost.
They don't even have the energy to shower. To wash off the blood and the smell of smoke from burning hell-fire creatures.
They just fall into each other, the weight of gravity too hard to fight.

Well, now he’s here, and he’s found home between Jayden Shiba’s ribs, just as he always said he would, but the idea of forever here, with everyone else here, with everyone’s expectations, with the pressure of Atlas’ sky upon his shoulders-
How is Antonio going to keep up shining when the war is over and yet no one is willing to acknowledge that he fought in it? That he broke his own bones, ran himself into danger when no one else would, that he did it all because when he was five-years-old, he swore an oath to the boy that he would follow to the ends of the earth?
(After the war against the Nighlok ends, Antonio and Jayden are finally in a relationship and things are looking up. There's just one problem: no matter how much Antonio has proven himself, there will always be people who view him as lesser-than because he's not born to the Samurai clans.
Don't worry, though; Jayden Shiba definitely will have something to say about that.)
