Summary
Jeb’s art has always mirrored his life—revealed things that later, lined up as perfectly as a picture. His hands always knew the truth before his mind did. At first, everything is great. Even after the disastrous breakup with Taelor, he has Alyssa, and they plan to move to London together when she graduates. But Jeb’s life starts to fall apart when a butterfly starts to appear reccurently in his drawings, along with pieces of a mysterious person. Flashes of a face swim in the periphery of his sketches—never the full picture. An eye, a cheekbone, and oddly enough— wings. Eventually Alyssa confronts him about his art of the person—and forbids Jeb from ever drawing him again. But no matter how hard he tries, both the butterfly and the muse reappear—in his art, in his thoughts, even in his dreams. When a customer walks in at the coffeeshop he works at, his life is upended.
