Typical academy era fic, but as in depth as possible. It will follow Jim and McCoy throughout their three years in the academy together, and will explore their growth from tentative acquaintances to the inseparable pair that they become.

Summary
Pathetic as it might have been, McCoy wished he was the person Kirk could confide in, feel safe with, be himself around. He found himself fantasizing about it. How they'd meet, how Kirk would quickly realize he could trust McCoy, how they'd spend time together away from everyone else just to be themselves.
But McCoy was a realist, a doctor, and divorced. Relationships didn't work like that, he and Kirk weren't even friends, and things were rarely ever so easy in life.
He allowed himself his little fantasy, anyway. He wasn't harming anybody with it, after all, and Kirk never need know. They'd both graduate the Academy and go their separate ways and McCoy would probably never see the kid again.
Or: McCoy has a crush on one James T. Kirk, but thinks Jim has no idea who he is. Turns out, Jim has been pining just as much as Bones.

Summary
Jim & Bones friendship centered fic. WhumpBones!
Jim Kirk is planning a new expedition to a dangerous moon, much to Bones dismay. That brings some disagreements between them just before the mission hits and quickly turns into something nobody expected. Who will be hurt this time? Will it take the near death of a very close one to make Jim really listen for the first time?
Or,
Will be the love Jim and Bones have for each other strong enough to bring Bones back to his old self after what happened to him?
Just an excuse to have major Whump!Bones (heavy angst) and then loads of Hurt/Comfort - Slow Bones recovery with a heartbroken and overprotective/mother-henning Jim Kirk (and even Spock).
