Summary
Neil opened to the first page, but before he started to read, his eyes flickered up to Todd, shyly. He tilted his head back and forth, weighing how to ask what he wanted to. Then, he jabbed his finger at the page, expectant.
“You can read it,” Todd softly agreed. “Just… not too much, okay?” He then lunged forward, nearly falling into Neil’s lap. The other boy didn’t even move, just grinned, observing Todd as the blond furrowed his brows and flipped through his notebook, trying to search for the right poems.
‘I wonder what’s in the diary of Todd Anderson,’ Neil signed, twiddling his eyebrows.

“Enid,” she levely said, far too calm in comparison to the werewolf at her side.
Enid gasped, scrambling to her feet, having been on her knees for whatever reason, knelt like she was praying to a merciful statue for mercy rather than a friend. Wednesday raised a brow at this show, finding it mildly amusing. She wondered if Nevermore had already begun constructing some sort of memorial in her honor. She hoped it was a statue this time. The kind that towered over a grave in her grandmama’s graveyards. This time, she prayed it wasn’t smiling horribly like the last gift she received from the school. If it was, she’d blow that one up far worse than the painting she burned.
“I thought you were dead!”
“I know. I’m crushed as well,” Wednesday muttered with a smile. “I’m surprised they surrounded me in white. I told mother I preferred black for this occasion."

Summary
He had been thrown like a rag doll into a tree. A tree he was sure he saw on his way to Castle Byers all the time as a kid, and that fact made it all the worse. His brain murmured for him to get up and go to it. To drag his body across the ground even if it unraveled as he went. The thought of sleeping in Castle Byers brought him immense comfort that he hadn’t felt in so many months. His friends would understand, right? They wouldn’t blame him for a small nap after such a terrible fight. They were good to him now. Mike attended him everywhere and Lucas and Dustin would smile with encouragement whenever Will offered up a new plan now. El and Jon would ruffle his hair or kiss his forehead as they’d walk past him in their base and tell him how proud they were of him. They all saw he was tired, so they wouldn’t care if he closed his eyes for a few moments. A few seconds. Hours. Days. Hopefully a year.
If only he could carry himself there.

She inhaled sharply and then moved on to her next question. She had a lot. “Do you want to protect me or do you love me?”
Mike’s eyebrows shot up.
“Do you do it because you want to save me from all of this or do you really want to love me, Mike. I know you do not like to say it… or write it… so is this why? I am something or someone you wish to fix?” She gulped, her bottom lip quivering like this was an admittance she was worried he would say first and she had beaten him to it. Mike though just stayed silent, absolutely destroyed by the revelation she had come to.
“Please don’t tell me you’re serious,” he begged, his mouth ajar. “El, come on!”
“I do not know and that is why I am asking,” she snapped, lifting her free hand to her cheek to brush away the forming wet spots. “I am not a project. I am a person. Will is not a project either.”
