“Have you ever…thought about what those things are?”
The question made Sirius stop what he was doing. He blinked twice before looking at Cy. “Can you elaborate?”
“The masked bodies, Sirius,” Cy continued. “I’d assume the eyeless dogs would’ve eaten them or they’d just go away and decompose due to the weather. But…What if they didn’t? What if they were still there and we’re seeing them again and again?”
Sirius went quiet, the idea sinking into his mind. With a nervous edge to his tone, he spoke, “I mean it’s at least a reminder from the company for us to keep on our toes.”
The statement made Cy’s stomach uneasy. “Right…Keep us on our toes. But that doesn’t make sense over what they are either.”
Sirius could sense the sudden unease Cy had. They were right- it didn’t explain what they were nor how they came to be either. And with the tension already high on the ship, it was already difficult enough as-is. Moving over to them, he gave them a teasing hit on the arm. “Cheer up, okay? We’ve got a mission to do.”
“Right…right.” Cy mumbled, only agreeing to not make things any possibly worse.
