Shinichi looked down, freezing as he saw that Kaito was awake, eyes open, his expression hauntingly calm even in the face of death. The witch smiled thinly, pointing a finger to his own chest.
“If you wish to strike a killing blow, you would do best to aim right here. For the heart. It’ll take more pressure than you’re expecting, but do try to make it quick.”
Shinichi raised the knife again, trying to keep it together, trying to hold his hand steady, to strike fast and true,--

Not even as Shinichi watched himself grow up all over again...as he watched Ran and all of his former classmates grow older and older without him. Left behind. Resigned to a mundane existence. No longer Shinichi Kudo, but Conan Edogawa, a high schooler who, on occasion, would maybe use his once promising detective skills to help find a missing cat. Who wrote mystery novels in his spare time, and worked after school at the cafe beneath the apartment he shared with disgraced detective Kogoro Mouri.
A series of interconnected one-shots about what happens when Conan Edogawa gives up detective work for good.

While Heiji always helps Shinichi when his antidote wears off, this is the first time he's actually seen the transformation happen.
