He felt the wave of air from Nova and Sentry’s heads as they both whipped around to stare at him. But he had nothing to worry about because the subject of his affections, while incredible smart, could be a bit oblivious.
“I love you too, Birdie!” Lucius laughed lightly, his cheeks red with happiness and his eyes sparkled. “Almost as much as I love my husband,” he spun around and smiled blindingly.
Aridan, head resting in his hand stared back at his husband dreamily, a soft, incredibly fond smile painting his lips.
Quill felt a choking build in his chest. A constriction in his lungs that burned. He looked down unable to stop the grinding of his break. He coughed into the crook of his wing and took a hefty drink of wine and felt that heat clear the odd tickle.

Simon watches the blood drip from Grace's nose. He knows exactly what that blood tastes like.
“I hurt you,” Simon says, like Grace is slow. They both know that Simon is the stupid one of the two, even though Grace is too nice to admit it.
Grace shrugs. Like it's no big deal that Simon woke him with a punch to the face.
“Sometimes you get hurt.”

Summary
Whatever happened here was bad. Irrevocably, inexplicably, inarticulably bad in a way that the most basal parts of his being wants nothing more than to escape from. But Grace can't turn away.
After encountering what appears to be a last hoo-ra emergency mission attempt from Earth caught up in the Hail Mary's wake, Grace and Rocky discover a single, severely injured human being quite literally encased in what Grace can only describe as a crime scene. A horror movie. And when he wakes up? He's mad. Really mad. Talking to the walls mad. Now they have to figure out just where he came from and why. Things are further complicated when all the newcomer (Simon, they learn) can talk about is missing planets, haunted oceans, and non-existent space stations. That and the really weird data they've been picking up on.
Maybe part of solving that is, much to Rocky's enthusiasm; both Grace and Simon slowly realizing how lonely they are.- Language:
