In the early morning light, Tyler was a golden child. Naked and seeping with warmth, their sheets pooled around his lower waist. Everything about him was bright - from his boyish smile, to the way he greeted others and the way in which he looked at the world. And yet, there was something soothing about him. A kind of drowsy rhythm that pulled her under, resembling the sound of the waves crashing against the shore. The water that dragged along the rocks, before receding back to its home. He was comfort, he was deep blue. But when he smiled, she saw the sun reflecting straight onto the water’s surface - too bright and blinding.

On his day off, trying to wake Tyler is like attempting to rouse the dead. But it's early, Wednesday is wide awake and wanting her morning coffee.

When Wednesday woke up that morning, it took her precisely five seconds to realise exactly where she was. In a vaguely familiar room, scented with sandalwood and fresh pine, wrapped up in clean linen sheets that definitely were not her own. A sunken mattress, softer than she was used to. The distant ticking of an alarm clock that definitely did not belong to her. And there was an arm draped across her waist, firm and defined, and unfortunately - she knew just who it belonged to. And that was when the panic set in.
