Ryuji briefly has to wonder how in the hell Akira always manages to get them into situations like this. Whether it’s fighting a shadow twice their size or convincing him to try the spiciest bowl at their favourite ramen place, he always has a way with words that manages to sway Ryuji in his favour.
Either that, or it’s Ryuji's own fault for not being able to back down from a challenge....To be honest, that’s likely it. But in his defense, Akira’s also at fault for being such a shit-eating competitor himself! Ryuji would’ve been fine on the normal ferris wheel, but this asshole just had to make a mockery of the whole situation.

Summary
Makoto watches the two of them exchange a few more words before Haru’s boyfriend(?) turns and heads off toward a stand. Haru, meanwhile, remains planted, her arms now coming up to tuck around herself, warm brown eyes darting around the market place. She seems almost overwhelmed, a crease in her brow and her lips pressed together, and Makoto feels that same cold ache from before, just watching her shift.
“Haru!” Makoto pushes past one last stranger and comes to stand in front of her old friend, catching her breath. When she straightens up, she sees that Haru is looking at her with shock painted across her features, eyes incredibly wide.
“M-Mako-chan? I—” Haru swallows, audible even over the din of the outdoor market. “What are you doing here? I-I mean—um, sorry. This is a public market, isn’t it? Of course you would come by sometimes for groceries, I just…”
She trails off. Her voice carries a slight tremble to it that it never had back in high school.
