The corners of Grimm's eyes crinkled. He looked down his nose at me-- not unkindly, for once-- and allowed, "Perhaps they're not all bad."

Summary
Once he was certain Leo had left, he opened his fist again and stared down at the soggy petals, now crushed and wilting. As odd as the whole thing was, perhaps there was nothing more to it—somehow he’d inhaled some flower petals, and now they were out, and that would be it.
The tightness that still lingered in his chest made that hope seem faint indeed.
(Or, after they return to the Fount for the rest of their fifth tier, things are totally fine. Painfully normal. That is, until Sebastian starts coughing up flower petals and finds out that the lingering feelings he brought back with him from the Unquiet Wood are far more problematic than he could have ever imagined.)

Summary
After returning from the Unquiet Wood, Leo is...fine. So completely fine. He feels great and is definitely not fainting all the time. He has great control over his Grandmagic and isn't terrified of scriving and hurting anyone (or himself) again. And he feels completely, absolutely normal towards Grimm, with no lingering romantic feelings whatsoever.
...He's usually better at lying than this.

He wanted to say it was a horrible feeling to want Leo. In many ways he was exactly who he’d expected him to be: careless, inattentive, and wholly confusing. But, he was also creative and wonderful and, on the days he wasn’t being a complete idiot, he was kind.
Which made it frustratingly difficult to lie to him.
