Shawn’s voice raked through the air filled with gravel and sleep. Tuukka turned to meet him with with a playful eye roll and a chuckle; Shawn looked half dead with his face buried in a mess of blankets while twisted awkwardly on his side, like he had tried to prop himself up on one elbow, but promptly gave up because it was too much effort.
“Because believe it or not, some of us in this room like to get to practice on time- early even."
Shawn’s groan of displeasure was swallowed up by pillows and blankets.

Summary
Rogers Arena is cold in a way Prudential Center never is. It leaves a chill on Luke's skin, makes the hair on his arms and at the nape of his neck stand on end.
It's downright freezing when Luke catches a glimpse of the white 43 on the player's shoulder, in stark contrast to the Canuck Blue of their jersey, in even starker contrast to the blood soaking into the fabric where they lay unmoving on the ice.

Playing in the NHL always carries risks. Luke keeps seeing red in his nightmares after Quinn gets hurt during a game. It's up to Jack and Petey to pick up the pieces.

Then Quinn starts biting his nails.
Jack overindulges in hockey.
Luke procrastinates.
Luke refuses to pick up a physical book.
Jack hides injuries from his brothers.

Summary
Quinn goes quiet when he’s stressed.
Luke knows he’s stressed when he goes quiet. But the most obvious fact of the matter is that Quinn doesn’t even try to get Jack to move. He sits neatly on the opposite edge of the couch, his ass inches away from Luke’s feet, doesn’t reach for his dinner again.

Quinn Hughes, loving Brother, Son, Friend, Boyfriend and Teammate is what he knows his eulogy would read but see now Quinn wouldn't take the liberty of being so kind, on any day when asked to describe himself, his would go a little something like this
Selfish, Rude, Mean among a million other negative adjectives in the English language he could think up, he doesn't deserve any of what he has and if he could he'd take the first chance to jump off the nearest building that would ensure his demise, he'd take it.... if not for how he knows it would devastate his family and worst of all his boyfriend the only person convinced he's the most important person in the world and who loves him to the ends of the Earth without being under obligation to and he's the only person Quinn is convinced he's ever loved this much and he would do anything for him, including keeping himself in this misery if it means Kirill will be happy another day
Now this new season is starting to take a toll on Quinn and getting traded to the Wild is not helping, will this trade be the thing to push him off the ledge or will it be his saving grace?

Kirill would be okay with being in love with his teammate if that didn’t mean being in love with a man. He would be fine with loving Quinn if loving Quinn wasn’t loving a man. Kirill knew what loving a man meant for him. He knew what it meant in his home country, what it meant in his sport. He would be fine with loving Quinn, if loving Quinn wasn’t a crime.
