Summary
John MacTavish hasn't seen Simon Riley since the day Simon rushed him to a London trauma center... and then walked away. The absence made John's road to recovery all the more agonizing, but luckily, the rest of the 141 along with other friends and family filled the hole left by a ghost.
Now, three and a half years later, John finally has his life together. He works for the MOD (and the CIA... ahem) as a civilian demolitions consultant. He's got a house, a (mostly) clear head, and most importantly, a date with someone new to his best mate's wedding.
John's ecstatic to be standing up as Kyle's best man. Unfortunately, it also means standing in the same room as a certain Lieutenant. It's okay, though. For Kyle's sake, John can keep all the anger and hurt festering inside of him in check. All he has to do is avoid Simon for the next few hours, and they'll go their separate ways.
Too bad Simon has other plans that, unbeknownst to either of them, will change their lives forever.
For better or for worse.

Summary
But Ghost didn’t seem to mind, quietly filling the kettle before setting it to boil, those dark eyes watching as John paced the kitchen, one arm flailing about in the air, the other locked tight around his half-melted pint of rocky road.
He told Ghost he was stressed. That the entire MacTavish clan was coming into town, which meant awkward hugs, judgmental stares, and nosy questions from people he hadn’t seen in years. John could handle all of that, he really could.
But what he couldn’t handle was the questions. Why he hadn’t settled down yet, why he didn’t have a nice Scottish girl on his arm.
Why he wasn’t married with a child on the way, because Ethel and James weren’t getting younger, and John was already too old. For fuck’s sake.
“Maybe I don’t want to bring home a wee lass,” John had snapped, voice cracking as he dug his spoon in harder than necessary, a brown, congealed clump of freezer-burned rocky road flying onto the floor. “Maybe I don’t even like women, has anyone considered that?”
And there, in less than twenty words, John had completely outed himself.

Summary
Soap knows his wife well enough to know when she’s taken a “ask for forgiveness rather than permission” course of action. It’s written all over her face when she accepts his FaceTime call and answers his greeting of “What did ya dae, hen?“ with a “Please don’t be mad.”
Now certain men might have to worry about their brides stepping out on them on deployment. Soap knows her well enough to not even entertain that notion, so the wheels start turning for what exactly she could have done that has her looking this guilty out the gate.
The answer comes very suddenly in the form of a bark on the other end of the screen.

Summary
Living next to Soap was proving to be interesting. When she moved in, she wasn't expecting a Scottish, military man to be her neighbor and certainly wasn't expecting him to play a bigger part in her life. But he was good at weaseling his way in, no matter how hard she attempted to close the door.
But he was here to stay, at least that's how it seemed. She'd have to learn to live with him one way or another.

Summary
He wades in it now, eyes still open, fixed on the speckled ceiling, begging himself not to crave bomb blasts and artillery fire in his childhood bedroom. Although…there might be something beautiful about it all, Johnny supposes, those noises in the thick. The gasps in between discharge that say: I’m here, I’m a part of this song too.
After a near-fatal injury, John MacTavish finds himself back in his hometown in Scotland. Fresh off an untimely discharge, he's forced to cope with disability, his dysfunctional family, and the lingering knowledge that there are some things he's just not ready to leave behind...
