Summary
Connor is in a different mode now. He's listening to Hank (actually listening to him!), copying him, and when Hank kisses him he pays attention, tries to kiss back the same way. He also lubricates his mouth, which is incredibly fucking gross if Hank thinks about it for more than two seconds, so he doesn't -- he just focuses on curling his tongue around Connor's, trying not to clack his teeth against Connor's plastic ones, biting gently at Connor's bottom lip. He absolutely knows that Connor still has his eyes open, but he keeps his firmly closed. There's no need to ruin the moment.

You wish you'd asked him what it meant, but you didn't. You grinned and shut your eyes and after a while you heard his breathing soften, and then you let yourself sleep too. Most of the time you figured you could understand what Goody meant even when you missed particular words, and you weren't wrong. Now those words irritate you, like a horse with a stone in its shoe, biting at you when you walk on them. They're little scraps of mysteries. Extra talk you could be carrying with you now. One more minute of the memory to hold on to.

Billy sits him down on the side of the bed and starts to undress him, hands so gentle that it's hard to believe how good they are at death. He works slow and methodical. In a quick-draw he's like the flare of a match, spark and then fire, but now he's taking his time, unbuttoning Goody's waistcoat, getting him down to shirtsleeves.
"Puritan," Goody says.
"Someone had to carry you back."
