necessity, fate, or compulsion.The Kremnoan detachment was far away fighting Titankin. Phainon was sent to deliver a message to Mydei, but as he traveled towards Aidonia, he met a blizzard and was rescued instead. In Mydei’s tent, Phainon recovered but his shame at having to be rescued made him want to go back to Okhema immediately to complete his mission. However, Mydeimos insisted they push forward to Ladon.
Phainon breathed. Something in him shivered. It was not the cold. Ladon was not cold.
Mydeimos breathed next to him. Phainon wondered if he slept. He closed his eyes, opened them again.
“If you want something, say it,” Mydeimos said out loud abruptly.
Phainon remained silent except for the breaths he let out.
Then, they both turned to look at each other. Mydei’s gaze pulled like a golden tide and Phainon gladly allowed himself to be swallowed.

"How did it get there?" Wise questioned aloud. "It wasn't there before." He traced his fingertips along the edge of the rose petals, as if he were manually mapping out routes on the soft, supple surface like he would a Carrot. He looked over at the other customers, but they all their backs were turned to him, either perusing the shelves or talking with their companions. "Did you see anything?" He turned back to Lighter.
Lighter opened his mouth but after a few seconds, snapped his jaw shut. "Don't think I did, no." He shrugged.
"But why?" Wise stared at the rose, as if it could tell him exactly who placed it next to him.
Once again, Lighter shrugged, but something sparkled in his verdant green eyes as he tilted his head to look directly at Wise, his sunglasses slipping a fraction off his nose.
"Maybe someone just really likes you," Lighter grinned, flashing his canines.

Summary
To Lighter, Wise is a lake, serene on the surface yet containing fascinating things beneath the still water. Below the calm ripples of the blue expanse is something distinctly alive, brimming with a sentience that threatens to consume him whole. He thinks of Wise’s skin as a glinting oasis in the tough sun of the outer ring. At the same time, Wise’s eyes are the incoming storm, incandescent the way thunder lights up the clouds. And Lighter is the unfortunate soul (or fortunate soul) to chase after the mirage, to get caught in its rainfall.
It does not matter that Wise is a beta.
To Wise, Lighter is a meteor crashing from the sky, fists burning up as if they were entering the atmosphere. Movements erratic yet calculated, with the intention of colliding with such an impact that it rattles the planet. Perfect violence, Wise thinks. If there was such a thing.
And it matters that Lighter is an alpha.

When he flitted his gaze up at Lighter, he found the man staring at him with an unreadable expression, dusting his cheeks with pink as he became self-conscious.
“Yes?” He questioned.
Lighter, after some silence, reached over to touch the strands of his hair.
“Your hair is longer now.” He suddenly says, voice low.
Wise hadn’t expected this, the slight brushes of his fingers on his cheek felt so ticklish. His cheeks redden more, warm.
“Mm, haven’t had the time to get a haircut.” Wise murmured, hand subconsciously tucking his hair back again as his shyness overcame him, “Apparently Belle and I resemble each other more when my hair is like this, even though hers is a lot longer now.”
Lighter pulled his hand back, smiling as his gaze softened, “That so?”
“It suits you, though you’ve always been pretty to me.”

Jack was against the perfumer, the enchantress, the embalmer, and his lovely mercenary. The two fair ladies were the ones who had met their ends with the rocket chair and the embalmer was the one who managed to escape him. That left the mercenary, who either was looking for the opened exit gate or the dungeon to leave them in a tie.
