Deuce groaned, dragging his hands down his face. “This makes no sense. I don’t get it! I visualised the cauldron perfectly! The weight, the shape, the impact—”
“And Ace,” Ruggie added.
“And Ace,” Deuce echoed on instinct, then froze. “…wait.”
Ruggie’s grin widened.
“No,” Deuce said immediately, “No, that’s not—yes, Ace was there, but only because—because he always is! He’s loud! And red! And—”
“And you just so happened to summon flowers and candy instead of a cauldron.” Ruggie finished.
Deuce opened his mouth, then closed it.
