Summary
Grace hadn't seen her sister in over a decade when she gets a letter in the mail imploring her to come visit her at the place she has decided to make her permanent home. Grace scrapes together the rest of her savings to fly down to Louisiana to see her. Grace's stay wasn't meant to last more than a week, but strange event after strange event prevents Grace from going home and the longer she stays, the stranger the already strange community seems, and soon, Grace begins to realize, the man they call Father, has no intention of letting her leave.

My fingers came up and gently trailed along the black marker marring my skin. My eyes lowered. It wasn’t the large, black, boldly displayed letters that spelled out the word WHORE across my chest that had me truly crippled with fear in that moment, but the letters printed beneath them, below my belly, across my lower abdomen… large, menacing... a word with more far reaching implications than the simple derogatory insult someone who would drug and rape a woman might throw at them. No, this was far more unsettling, far more frightening. Drawn across my lower bellow, just above the neatly groomed curls nestled between my legs, written in black maker, in capital letters, was the word MINE.

Summary
It could not be said for certain that Visenya Targaryen was a dreamer.
She did not see the future barreling towards her family faster than their dragons came diving from the skies; she did not see the past—all the things that once were, all the lives that lit up and burnt out just as quickly. She did not see the present, either, all the happenings across the sea and through the realms, all the truths that had not yet spread to all the little birds in King’s Landing.
No, Visenya only ever dreamed of a could have been world. A might have been life. A life she already lost the chance to live, a peace that would not reign, blood that would not stay burning in the veins of dragons.
She dreamt of what could never be.
She tore her heart in half wanting for it.

Daenerys took a breath, and asked the question that had plagued her ever since leaving King’s Landing. “Your brother, the king, only lost his betrothed, and he hates me. Eddard Stark lost over half his family because of mine, and yet he will welcome me as his kin?” Her voice rose at the last, as she was no longer able to hide her disbelief, her fear.
“Ned Stark is a man of honor,” Stannis said. “He has no interest in avenging his family by tormenting you.” Unlike the king, neither of them said aloud.
