Sometimes, Hitoshi wished he could disappear.
No, he wasn't suicidal. Yes, he was satisfied with his circumstances overall. But he would be lying if he claimed that everything was how he wanted it to be.
Being an Underground hero required sacrifice and a certain ruthlessness to ensure success. He had been beaten, kidnapped, threatened, and hospitalized to protect society.
While topside heroes smiled for cameras and pedaled merchandise, he was journeying through the Underground always expecting to die. Always watching, always listening, while knowing that any night could be his last.
It wasn't just that though.
No, he had made the stupid, absolutely childish and bullheaded mistake of becoming the Number Four Hero's friend with benefits. Dynamight needed a release, Hitoshi needed a distraction.
Now, he was facing the consequences for it.

物の哀れ--"The pathos of things."
It was his favorite phrase. It reminded him of his mother, before she was stripped custody of him. Before he was transferred through multiple different foster families for "behavioral problems" or "general disobedience." Before he had learned to never believe someone when they promised they would provide for him.
Nothing about his life was going to change. At least, not how he expected it would.
Or: Hitoshi is rescued from his nightmare of a foster home by Aizawa and Yamada, and learns how to navigate the world without having to live in fear.
