The two of them were sitting in the car, in the parking lot of the grocery store. Seungmin was talking to him about a new music artist he discovered. Hyunjin was looking through all of the groceries the two of them got. Seungmin asked to see something in the bag, then he snapped at the younger, speaking coldly and harshly toward him, like he never had before.
“Can you just shut up for a second?”

Summary
Jeongin adjusted his tie for the tenth time before stepping through the glass doors. The lobby of the company looked far too sleek for the nervous twenty-something clutching a folder like it was a life vest. Polished floors, expensive suits, people talking too fast into headsets—he already felt out of place.
Behind the receptionist desk sat a young man with bleach-blond hair and a smile so warm it was almost disarming. He stood the second Jeongin approached.
“You must be the new intern,” he said, offering a hand. His accent was soft, his voice cheerful. “Welcome! I’m Felix. Don’t worry, everyone’s only terrifying if you let them be.”

Felix crouched by the counter, hands sticky with frosting as he tried to salvage the lopsided cake. “It’s supposed to be chocolate swirl, but it just looks like mud,” he muttered, more to himself than anyone else.
Chan leaned against the wall, dark circles heavy under his eyes, phone clutched in his hand as he scrolled through the surprise playlist he’d built overnight. His stomach churned with both hunger and exhaustion, but he pushed it aside. “We just need a few more hours. If we time it right, he won’t suspect a thing.”
Hyunjin fiddled with the ribbon for a gift bag, movements restless, jaw tight. He hadn’t slept more than two hours after another round of nightmares, but he forced a smile. “He’s gonna love it. He has to.”
