Summary
A long slow-burn fic from Regulus’ POV, beginning in 1972.
In this version of the story, Remus Lupin never goes to Hogwarts. His parents keep him home, afraid someone might discover their son is a werewolf. Instead he receives private magical tutoring and attends Muggle schools.
Sirius Black eventually meets Remus anyway. But Regulus Black saw him first.
This story explores how it might have changed Regulus’ fate if the two of them had found each other and he hadn’t been alone.

Summary
When Sirius ran away from home during the summer before his seventh year at Hogwarts, he didn't realize how it would affect those he left behind. Specifically, his little brother.
When his older brother left, he had brought shame upon their family, and Regulus had to pay for his brother's actions. His parents were crueler than ever, and to make up for their disowned son's betrayal, they put all their focus on making sure that their spare would not make the same mistakes. To bring honor back upon their family, they have his future planned for him, and Regulus knows that there is nothing he can do about it.
But he didn't count on just how deep his brother's love for him truly ran, nor that one of his friends would try and help him save Regulus. Nor how that one friend would change his life forever...

Summary
Regulus watches the car approach from the balcony, the music blaring. As if the whole ordeal wasn't over the top enough, he starts honking along to the beat, before he sticks his head out the open driver window and whoops loudly. Regulus rolls his eyes but there's a small fond smile pulling at the corner of his lips as he steps back into his room and makes his way down the stairs to greet the newcomers. One could say he skipped down the steps, although he would vehemently deny this observation.
It's not that Regulus isn't happy Sirius seems to have made such good friends while he was away. Of course he's happy for his brother. But he won't lie and say he's excited necessarily about having three strangers in his house. Strangers who all know each other, who already have comfortable dynamics he's somehow meant to fit into. It's… daunting.
