In it, perhaps, he could build the world he never had. A world untouched by betrayal, unburdened by power.
Or maybe… he’d dream of what came after. Where he no longer had to be good or wise or anything at all.
Perhaps he’d see them again there, Eternal Sugar, Mystic Flour, Burning Spice, Silent Salt; shadows of themselves, softer, kinder.
But maybe not.
It didn’t matter.
The dream would be his.

Shadow Milk is torn between further corruption and redemption. But comfort is easy to fake. Paradise is easier to build when it’s built on lies. Maybe he’ll make his own.

The night before they depart, Pure Vanilla stumbles upon a breakthrough. A book, burned and scarred from the ages, but detailing the proper steps to starting a relationship. Dating back to Shadow Milk’s time, perhaps this will let him break past the other’s shell and finally make have the other take him up on his offer of friendship! All he has to do is follow these steps, and they should be friends in no time, as the book says!
Shadow Milk, for his part, is thrown by his counterpart suddenly flipping the script and trying to woo him.

Summary
At the cusp of defeat, Shadow Milk gets transported to a backwards world: Dark Enchantress was sealed away before she could do any lasting damage, the Beasts never came to be, and the Ancients rule over an otherwise peaceful world.
Oh, and apparently his counterpart is dead and hailed as a hero. Because his life wasn’t already complicated enough.

What happens when the guy who basically saved all of cookiekind comes back as an evil, corrupted version of himself?

Once the Fount of Knowledge, then the Beast of Deceit, and now, a Soul Jam-less, powerless wanderer trapped in his own other realm. This unwelcome plot twist had really thrown a wrench in Shadow Milk’s grand plans for vengeance. And to top it all off? Pure Vanilla was here too! To act saintly and get in his way and poke his nose into everything Shadow Milk was trying to hide. Oh joy! Surely nothing bad could happen!
Will Shadow Milk get his revenge on Dark Enchantress for backstabbing him? Will Pure Vanilla lose his sanity again? With they get back to Earthbread and reclaim their Soul Jams or will they throttle each other first?
