Summary
Severus keeps a litany in his head of all the terrible things he's experienced in his life since he took the Dark Mark, so whenever something new and terrible comes along, he knows that Lily's death was his personal Mariana Trench (he can fall no further into the depths than that soul-shattering sorrow). He does not commit acts of sexual violence. He has tortured and murdered, lied and spied, but he does not touch others against his will.
It is his final line in the sand, the block upon which he would lay his neck for the executioner.
Until a day in late spring when he receives a desperate plea from Cissa, urging him to come to the Manor, desperate for his aid once more, and what lies before him is a nightmare — a single prisoner: Hermione Granger.
Suddenly, he is facing the one line he'd die before crossing. Except Hermione Granger's eyes are locked on his, and speaking words that send him reeling into the abyss: She implies she knows why he killed Albus Dumbledore.
Behind her eyes are secrets Hermione Granger needs him to know to win this war.

Summary
After Harry’s misguided attempt at saving Sirius went pear shaped, the mystery surrounding Hermione (McGonagall) Granger’s paternity is answered obliterating her world. With Tom Riddle as her father and Minerva reluctantly agreeing to his request of keeping her at Malfoy Manor with him for the summer, she’s lost all but Luna in the way of friends. Now if only she could lose the ever present shadow of Professor Snape as easily. At least she can console herself with the knowledge that the start of the next term is only ten weeks away and then she can put everything into a tidy little box and pretend like it never happened. Or so she thought.
Turns out, her father is as paranoid about her return to school as her mother is about her summer amongst the Death Eaters. And for all their fighting, there’s one thing her parents can agree on: the only person they trust with her safety is Severus Snape, her unwanted shadow turned unwanted husband.
