Titus tilted his head, confused by your words, silently urging you to continue.
“That woman, she said there’s a loophole to all of this,” you said, forcing the words past the ache in your chest.
Titus glanced at his sister, as if trying to gauge whether she was aware of this. “She said if we get married… you’ll get your seat… and I get to live.”
He turned his gaze to the lawyer, looking for confirmation. Was it really that easy? Could he truly, in just one moment, secure the two things he’d been wanting ever since he first laid eyes on you?

“Fuck it, I accept your proposal,” Titus didn’t even need a split second to make that decision. You were his newest obsession, a toy for his ever-so-fucked-up mind.
